The lemon drop martini is believed to have been created within the Seventies by Norman Jay Hobday, a bartender on the Henry Africa’s bar in San Francisco. Hobday was impressed to create the cocktail after a buyer requested him for a vodka martini with a twist of lemon. Hobday added Cointreau and sugar syrup to the drink to stability out the tartness of the lemon juice, and the lemon drop martini was born.
